The Apple Tree, Part I
Eliott and I visited a local nursery in search of an apple tree to plant in the garden. We were the only visitors and walked undisturbed through many greenhouses, old and new, and across fields of trees and shrubs.
We saw some apple trees in the ground but were told that they couldn't be dug out until all the leaves had fallen off or we would risk not having fruits for many years after planting. On our way back to the car I noticed an old greenhouse which we hadn't visited.
Inside, we saw this:
Almost an apple tree!
(I should have taken a picture with Eliott next to it to give an idea of the scale because this thing was huge!)

Sophie

Clacton-on-Sea
It's too hot! Let's go to the sea!
It was apparently some of the highest temperatures on record for a 2nd of October.
Clacton may not be my idea of seaside bliss, the sun, the heat, the crowd and the noise all combined made it feel like a big party! So we happily joined the hundred of beachgoers for a play in the sand and a paddle in the water. Eliott, who wouldn't normally go anywhere near the water, went from dipping the tip of his toes to going right in and jumping and splashing cheerfully. What a transformation! And what a shame we don't live nearer the sea!
Driving there.
Shoes off.
Yeeepeee!

Downhill
I had not anticipated such a long absence and I apologise for those who have come and checked on us always to find that same picture of kitchen floor samples! The truth is, we've had some really hard times in the last months and I simply didn't have the energy or the drive to come out and blog. Things are getting better now and we can relax a bit more...

No, I am not giving up on the blog! Quite the opposite, in fact. With it’s first anniversary coming, I am planning a little makeover. In the meantime, my mind is on other things. Our house is slowly drying, following some serious water damage. The latest news is that now our kitchen also has to go to allow for the floor to dry, which means removing all the units and the Marley tiles (containing asbestos) on the floor.Needless to say, this was a big blow to the moral!
